Carnaval at Riverside Market & Casa Publica

Intercultural Engagement | Cultural Activation | Community Building

Carnaval at Riverside Market and Casa Publica was an intercultural engagement project designed to foster inclusion, participation and cultural exchange through the shared experience of Brazilian culture and Carnaval traditions.

Rather than presenting culture as a performance for spectators, the project invited people to actively participate through music, dance, storytelling and collective celebration. The initiative created opportunities for people from diverse cultural backgrounds to meet, learn from one another and contribute their own experiences, transforming public space into a platform for connection and dialogue.

Grounded in principles of participation and belonging, the project celebrated Brazilian cultural heritage while encouraging meaningful intercultural exchange. Through shared experiences, participants developed new social connections, expanded cultural understanding and strengthened a sense of community.
